Teamwork Arts presents Jazz India Circuit Launch Concert

Joost Lijbaart (Amsterdam 1967) started playing drums at the age of 7, following his father Piet Lijbaart. He graduated in 1991 with honors from the Hilversum Conservatory where he followed classes with Cees Kranenburg, Marcel Serierse Ali Un D’Aye Rose and Victor Oskam. With the Yuri Honing Trio in 1996, he made the album ‘Star Tracks’ from (a modern adaptation of European pop classics).In the 20 year history of the trio  the group released 5 CDs and performed on numerous tours in more than 90 countries. There were musical collaborations with musicians from the Middle East, India and China. Besides working as a sideman Lijbaart focused also on his own projects, such as his own quartet ‘Group of Friends’, his duo with pianist Wolfert Brederode, the group Batik and his recently formed improvisation trio with vocalist Sanne Rambags and guitar player Bram Stadhouders. In a little over a year, Kitchensink has performed at several concerts and a number of festivals in India. Some of these include the Chandigarh Jazz Festival (December 2014), The Friends of Music Concert Series (June 2014), The DIY DAY Festival (April 2014) a curated performance at the India Habitat Center (June 2014), The Giants Of Jazz Festival (November 2016) and the Into The Void Festival - Rann Of Kutch Chapter (February 2017). Apart from this, the band continues to be a regular feature in various cultural venues, pubs and restaurants across the city. (source)

Delhi plays host to Jazz this December. Kicking up the jam will be Joost LIjbaart, one of the most respected exponents of drumming on the Scandinavian scene – and that is saying a lot, considering that some of the most innovative jazz is being crafted in the region’s jazz conservatories. Lijbaart and his band Under The Surface will perform at the opening, Launch Concert of the Jazz India Circuit in Gurugram at Horizon Plaza, DLF5 Gurugram on 1 December 2017. Tickets and entry details out now.  (Tap the 'Book button' to secure your entry)
